"SAORI" is a contemporary hand weaving founded by Misao Jo (born in 1913, Osaka, Japan) in 1970. It is a free-style weaving without any rules or restrictions of what or how to weave.

Through the free-style "SAORI" weaving, everyone can express oneself freely regardless of age, gender or intellectual and physical ability, and everyone can find a true self through weaving which he or she never knew before.

"SAORINOMORI" opened in May, 2004 as a new "SAORI" workshop site, in Izumi-city, Osaka, Japan where Misao Jo had started "SAORI" 35 years ago. More than 3,000 people from Japan and overseas have since visited and enjoyed "SAORI" at SAORINOMORI.
